     d. Summary

All of us have mental health, and all of us have a brain that needs to be cared for in similar ways that we care for our physical well-being. Hailey and her community lobbied and researched & campaigned for their bill, and in June of 2019, it was finally signed into law. Sometimes students are having a really hard month. They're overwhelmed, overworked, or falling behind in school and they knew they need help. The law helps the students to initiate talks to their parents about mental health. So, the school has that student absence recorded as a mental health day, the school can track how many students take and how many mental health days. If the students take too many, they'll be referred to the school counselor for a check-in. Through this policy, we can save lives. Physical and mental health care are equal and should be treated as such.

     f. Activities

I listened to and watched a video called "Why students should have mental health days". At first, I watched it without subtitles, and then I watched it again with subtitles to help me understand it better. I also take some notes on some sentences.

     g. Things I learn from this topic and the benefit

I learn that mental health days for the student are really important. Every student deserves a chance to feel better. I also learn that we have to think of life as a race, like a long-distance race. If you sprint in the very beginning you're going to get burned out. You may even hurt yourself from pushing too hard. But if you take it slow, sometimes intentionally, and push yourself other times, you are sure to be way more successful.
