d.     Summary

The listening selection is about teenagers' brains that are still developing in areas that control behavior, which could mean that you can't blame them for acting the way they do. Before the 1990s people believed that something different about the way our brains develop. The prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain right at the front, just behind the forehead and it's involved in a whole range of very high-level cognitive tasks such as decision making and planning.

e.     Vocabularies

-       adolescence: the period when someone is developing from a child into an adult.

-      a cognitive task: one that requires conscious thinking and processing.

f.      Things I learn from this topic

I learn that when we give teenagers homework, it might be too much given that we know that the region of the brain that is critically involved in planning is not developed yet. So, in the adolescent years the prefrontal cortex of the brain is not fully developed.
